In the shop and workshop, we prioritise recycling, the sourcing of and respect for materials and the use of sustainable sources of power. Most of the shop lighting is low voltage and we are exploring the future use of diode lighting. Aware of the cost to the environment through power generation, in 2003 we were one of the first companies to sign up to Green Energy plc. Now we have 'Ambassador Share Holder' status. This means that 100% of our power comes from renewable sources. Plastics and cardboard or silver and gold, what cannot be re-used we recycle. We recycle all our cardboard packaging and soft and hard plastics. In 2008 we recycled 356 kg of cardboard. All the scrap metal over the year is rescued for re-use. From 2009 we replaced all oil-based plastic bags with paper packaging.
On an individual level, by walking/cycling to work staff reduce their carbon footprint and the town's congestion and pollution levels. In 2008 John Cussell’s was the runner up in the Grantham Journal Green Business Awards. In 2009 we aim to win the award!

Part of our ethos is not only making, but mending, converting and redesigning large and small items. 1. St Wulfram’s Parish Church
